Or how doing something can give you renewed energy, even when you were feeling tired?

That’s no coincidence. What we do with our hands also affects our brain, attention, and state of mind. And we can learn to use this connection more consciously.

Whether you’re building a carport, knitting a sweater, repairing a bicycle, or gardening is less important. What matters is what the activity does for you.

In this workshop, we explore how practical and creative activities can help us regulate our state of mind. Sometimes we need to slow down and find calm; at other times, we need more energy, focus, or motivation to take action.

Topics we’ll explore include:

Why our energy levels and state of mind are constantly changing.

How we can become accustomed to high levels of stress and lose touch with what it feels like to be calm.

Why working with our hands can influence our mental state.

How to choose activities that help us either relax or generate renewed energy.

How to become better at recognising our body’s signals and consciously shifting mental gears.

A challenge to Take Home

Every participant will receive a small, practical challenge to take home, offering an opportunity to put the workshop’s ideas into practice.

No special skills, experience, or preparation are required. The challenge simply provides a chance to experience firsthand how working with your hands can influence your state of mind.

Practical Information

The workshop lasts 45–60 minutes and combines psychological insights, relatable examples, and active participation.

Everyone is welcome, regardless of gender, age, or experience with crafts or creative activities.

No preparation is required. The workshop takes place in person.

About the Workshop Facilitator

Lone Aller is a qualified psychologist (MSc in Psychology) with years of experience in the business world, specialising in leadership, motivation, and people development.

She is also the owner of Ulden, a yarn shop where her interest in crafts and creative activities meets her professional background in psychology.

Her approach is practical, down-to-earth, and informal, with room for both humour and reflection.

A workshop about energy, state of mind, and why creating something with our hands is good for us.
